New Spanish Incubator Program is Here!
“There are specific places that we go for specific reasons, and if you’re an entrepreneur looking to make a social impact, there is one place you go to in Rhode Island,” host Lori Giuttari shared.
This week on Business Over Breakfast we were joined by members of the Social Enterprise Greenhouse (SEG) team. SEG is a non-profit organization that supports individuals and organizations that want to build businesses that make our communities better and stronger, CEO Kelly shares. Members of the organization go out into the community and meet entrepreneurs where they’re at with programs and services that are most beneficial to them. In addition, SEG has cohort, ideator, incubator, and accelerator programs. They also have loan funds and next year in 2022 they will be introducing a new micro-grant fund.
“Social entrepreneurs were seen as tree huggers and not real business but this is the way that businesses are moving now.”
ShopLocalRhodeIsland is a perfect example of that! SEG solidified and cemented our ideas around being sure that ShopLocalRhodeIsland was both in English and Spanish. Outreach coordinator Ruthie spends a lot of her time going out and meeting businesses in the Pawtucket and Central Falls area and building relationships with them because a lot of small businesses, especially in the Latin community aren’t aware of the resources that are out there! A lot of small businesses don’t have a web presence and that’s where ShopLocalRhodeIsland can jump in and help small businesses.
SEG is in the process of launching a new Spanish incubator program. Program developer Rachael joined us as well to talk more about it. The program is a 5-week virtual business education program featuring evening workshops. The workshops go from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm every Tuesday from October 19th - November 30th.
“This program is designed for motivated, coachable entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of an idea or launching their own business.”
This opportunity will give entrepreneurs those skills to be able to plan and put their ideas out into the world, shares Rachael.
